Styling your Spring Family Photo Shoot

Choosing what to wear for family photos can be a challenge. Selecting a color palette that works for everyone and looks good takes some thought and effort!

Your outfits can really make the shoot.  Choose a style you like and a few colors you like as well.  Parents should dress fashionable, yet simple. Focus more of the funky, unique style on the kids.  I recommend investing in your child’s clothing for this session since it does make a huge difference in the final product.

After the long cold winter, everyone is ready for new blossoms in the spring!  Here are a few coordinating choices that will look fabulous.  You can never go wrong with light pinks and ivory tones for your spring shoot.

Light jeans is always a great choice for the parents. Pair them with neutrals for a classic year-round look that is both classy and has a timeless appeal.

Continue to think about texture and color.  Aqua is an amazing color in the spring that looks great on both genders.  Consider pairing it with corals or navy/grays.

Pick colors that compliment each other, like bright or deep colors (jewel tones like mustard yellow, fushsia, turquoise, etc) and try to stay away from all white.

If you are going to wear a print, stay away from small ones, there is not a lot of visual interest (think bold!).  A floral dress is a great start for a little girl in rose and olive.  Bring in some of those colors for the rest of the family for a fresh modern look!

Don’t forget to accessorize! Try a floral headband (as long as it’s not too big and gaudy), a fedora hat, Chuck Taylor high tops, or a statement jewelry piece to get creative with your look!

As you think about your color palette, imagine your family being one complete piece of artwork. Each person/outfit will bring together a feeling of formality and coordination. Happy planning!
